What do you think is the main thing that keeps people interested in such a fictional thing as vampires?

People will always be interested in vampires because the original concept is so powerful: you have here a supernatural monster, an immortal who was human and retains a human heart and human needs and feelings. Every reader feels he or she could seduce this monster and that the monster would never hurt him or her. And people want to know what the vampire thinks and feels and will he share the powerful blood? It's all there in the concept as first presented in literature by Dr. Polidari, Sheridan Le Fanu and Bram Stoker. We'll see many vampire authors in years to come, unpacking that concept in new and interesting ways
